To give the battery a floating charging voltage: the charging voltage of the battery must be maintained at a constant value, at which the charge and discharge should be sufficient to compensate for the loss of the battery due to self-discharge and the need for an oxygen cycle. Ensure that the battery is fully charged in a relatively short period of time, so that the battery can be fully charged for a long period of time, and that the selection of the voltage should minimize the damage caused by the overcharging of the battery. This voltage is called floating charge voltage.
The newly installed batteries, some of which have large pressure differences, should be dealt with as follows: the newly installed batteries, after a certain period of floating operation, will tend to become uniform in floating charge voltage because of the high saturation of sulfuric acid just used, and the poor gas recombination efficiency. So that the overpotential of the battery is different when floating charge, and the floating charging voltage of the battery is different. But after the valve-controlled sealed lead-acid battery is operated for a certain period of time, the floating charge voltage will tend to be uniform. Because of the low oxygen recombination efficiency of the cells with high sulphuric acid saturation, the saturation decreases a little, and the floating voltage of the cells tends to be even. In addition, the pressure drop of the connecting bar in series of the battery is large, the contact between the pole and the connecting bar is not good, and the new battery may have uneven phenomena in the period of 3 months and 6 months.
